The equestrian statue of Prince Albert was unveiled by his widow Queen Victoria in 1866 at Queen Square in Wolverhampton. It was her first public outing after Prince Albert's death.

In brief

An equestrian statue of Prince Albert (1819-61) by Thomas Thorneycroft. It is a bronze statue on a granite plinth. It was inaugurated by Queen Victoria in November 1866, her first public engagement since her husbands death some five years earlier.
